08  /  Traffic & Vehicle Matters

A ticket is a case. Treat it like one.

The county will be represented by an attorney at your traffic hearing. You should be too.

Speeding

A speeding ticket carries a fine, points on your license and, in most cases, an increase in insurance premiums. Depending on your driving history it can also mean a suspension. The county prosecutes these matters seriously, and they warrant a serious response.

Red light cameras

A red light camera infraction currently follows the vehicle rather than the driver, so the registered owner is liable for the fine and not the person accused of running the light. The registered owner does not take points, and the fines have been rising.

Liability is not automatic. The county attorney still carries a burden of proof that has to be met at trial, if the case goes that far.

Moving violations

Failing to signal, an unsafe lane change, a stop sign, failure to yield, a railroad crossing, passing a school bus. Do not go to traffic court alone. In many of these matters our clients do not need to take time off work or arrange a sitter to appear.

Common questions

Often not. In many traffic matters our clients do not need to take time from work or find a sitter in order to go to court.
